Along with designers Mace Ltd and client Hertfordshire County Council, Ashe picked up a RIBA Architecture award for its project to provide a new pre-school facility for Breakspear Pre-School in Abbotts Langley, Herts.
As part of the Smarteeast framework Ashe worked closely with the design team at the pre-construction stage to input on buildability, design and site logistical issues. Through careful discussion and negotition with the end users, Ashe were able to plan the method of works to ensure the interfaces between the school users and construction operations was kept to a minimum and managed to ensure optimum levels of safety.
Valued at £680k the 22 week project completed ready for the September term in 2010. The award was presented to the team in November at a ceremony held at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. Ashe’s business development director Andrew Morris said: “This job exemplifies a typical project undertaken by our Special Works division. An efficient project team where collaboration and team work has been key to ensure complete success and achievement of all required project outcomes.”
