Extra Mile Challenge raises £92k for local charities
The Extra Mile charity has today announced that fundraising for their 2017 Brittany Challenge has topped £92k, an outstanding effort!
Thirty seven teams took part in the event in September 2017, including two from Ashe Construction, cycling 500 miles through Brittany before finishing on one of the ‘D’ day landing beaches at the Juno Beach Museum. As well as entering regular teams to participate in the event, Ashe team members work alongside the organising committee assisting in the design and distribution of promotional material to ensure the events ongoing success.
We are delighted that the event continues to be hugely successful and that this year it has benefitted 49, mostly local, charities (see here). The Extra Mile Challenge grand fundraising total now stands in excess of £1.5m.
Having just successfully completed the Auvergne Challenge in September, we are now assisting preparations for the 2019 event that is due to be launched on the 2nd December.
Ashe business development director, Andrew Morris, has been involved in all 16 challenges and is now looking for new teams to enter next years event which promises to be another exceptional experience for those participating stating;
‘The spirit of the challenge is second to none, we have many teams that return year after year and form the core backbone of the challenge. It works for us as a company on so many levels; assisting us to raise money for our chosen charities which assists in delivering our social value commitments; encourages our team members to train for the event which helps transform their fitness levels; definitely assists in team building, and even helps with our business development as there are many other construction related businesses taking part, but we need new teams to supplement the event to ensure it’s even more successful going forward so look forward to hearing from any other companies and participants who might be interested.’
