Ashe JLR Staples Corner team wins inaugural ‘Safety Culture Award’

The project team at our £15m Jaguar Land Rover flagship development at Staples Corner in North London are the first Ashe project team to win our newly introduced ‘Safety Culture Award’.

A new initiative for 2019 the ‘Safety Culture Award’ is presented to the whole project team to recognize safety excellence and the introduction of new safety initiatives. It reinforces the company’s drive to maintain exemplary safety culture throughout the business.

The award was based on independent audit scores received from our safety inspectors, Safety Services UK, between Jan 1st and March 31st . High scores were received against each scoring criteria including adherence to safety processes such as; Near miss reporting; Induction process; Evidence of regular tool box talks.

Special mention was given to the meticulous planning and implementation of safe traffic and material movement around this very congested site, including particular attention to traffic and pedestrian segregation. Pre-commencement Supply Chain Workshops have ensured a full appreciation of the project and package complexities, enabling collaborative solutions to difficult work elements before they arise. An excellent example of a successful outcome is the use of spider cherry pickers utilised to enable dry lining works around the newly installed escalators.

The team were delighted to receive their award and are determined to win the next quarter award by continuing the excellent work at this demanding and exciting project which is set for completion in summer 2019.
