Dan is in charge of Ashe’s Design department and tasks members of staff within his department to ensure that Ashe’s responsibilities under each project are discharged. As Technical Director Daniel works with client’s, our own or our subcontractors designers as appropriate. He selects and reviews competence of D&B designers and subcontractors and works closely with our supply chain team to ensure Ashe maintains an updated database with highly skilled companies included within it. On each individual project It is his role to ensure that package designs are developed collaboratively.

  • Role & Responsibilities

Engagement - He will ensure that designers & supply chain members attend initial design launch meetings thus providing an initial opportunity to review design briefs, meet colleagues & review concept & detailing issues such as interfaces. Following this meeting, Daniel will issue a roles & responsibilities log to the design team, this will outline expectations & duties of each team member. Strategic Gateways Reviews - Daniel & our quantity surveyor will work closely with the client’s team to develop appropriate budgets, programmes & designs. Buildability & Risk Management Workshops - As a crucial aspect of our design management Daniel will run buildability & risk management workshops through the design development. Utilising the RIBA workstage approach we ensure that the clients sign off designs, costs & programmes at each stages of design. Final designs will be presented to clients & stakeholders as a fully developed & costed design, including full design & cost audit trails for future reference.

  • Memorable Achievement

Gaining my MICE status as I had to prepare, review and submit everything myself whilst undertaking my day job. I am now a registered mentor with ICE and am currently supporting one of our staff towards their chartered status.

Career Highlight

Virginia Water Visitor’s Centre in Windsor Great Park was a fantastic project, with a great end product and the client was very complimentary about my role in the project. In particular, I was personally mentioned at the opening ceremony. The project also won a Civic Trust award and I was asked by the client to join them on stage to receive the award. Another scheme was Hills Road Offices in Cambridge, a very challenging project for a demanding client but we managed to meet all their expectations and deliver a multi award wining building.
